Optimism Vs. Pessimism (Short Story)

by Nadia Oosthuizen, Grade 5, VIC

The Optimist and the Pessimist are two very different people. The optimist sees a blaze of light amidst everything, even through the dullness and despair at a funeral. The pessimist sees life as a bleak and worthless place.
The optimist had a thought that buzzed through his mind. He Screamed it out at the top of his lungs, in a cheerful and happy manner, while the pessimist hid in the shadows, just gazing at the dust grey clouds that loomed ahead. Gloom attacked the pessimists brain, not wanting to relinquish its hold.
The pessimist has a forever-longing pout, never has he stopped to draw a little spark from life. The optimist on the other hand, has an everlasting grin, he gives everything to the world saying “Smiles are contagious!” The pessimist simply looks ahead and continues to frown.
