Vietnam - No Man's War

SUDDEN
A cloud of darkest grey
Formed by man
Had come to stay.
It erupted,
Like a nightmare
To breathe
A dangerous chemical and no air.
I ran
With every pain
I cried, I suffered
In what seemed like acid rain.
The lethal veil was to spread
No strength had I
As my arm became burning lead.
My eyes, my hair;
My clothes had melted
So did the layers of my skin
No part of me was sheltered.
I ran naked
As if I was the proof,
I was exposed
Like the violence of War I became the truth.
Some survived,
Others died with no air
My picture now famous
Nor that I care.
