Her house is a cool haven
Protecting her from the world
But when she walks into her own backyard,
The heat of oppression, suppression, depression,
Hits her and sends her stumbling back,
Back into the cool haven,
Where everything else
Is barred by bricks and mortar and wealth.
She hides behind the curtains,
Not wanting to see, not having to see,
Because its not happening to her
But its happening just outside,
In her own backyard.
