Daddy

A happy family one day
the next day oh so sad
for Daddy would be shipped
Shipped some place far away

He’d be gone for a long time
who knows if he'd come back
Then one day months later
they got that simple call
Daddy was fighting in the war
when suddenly he took a fall

He was shot and blood was shed
the family prayed and prayed some more
but it was no use for he was dead

The terrible war turned a family of 5 down to 4,took a precious life
Daddy’s not coming back
