A little girl needs her daddy
To love her and make her smile at his charm,
To help her when she’s hurt,
And keep her safe from harm.
A girl needs her dad
To show her a man who’s good,
To help her make right choices,
As only a father could.
A teenager needs her father
Just to be aware,
And to know that he’ll always be there for her,
To love and care.
Now I am at the age where things are changing,
I know it might be scary,
Seeing that girl of yours grow up,
To be a mature young lady.
Don’t be scared that I’m growing up,
Be scared that I’ll be the age you are one day,
With a family of my own,
Well and truly happy.
I’ll have the strength,
That you always have had,
I’ll be there for my family,
Just like you always are.
I’ll love them and care for them,
Just as much as you love and care for me.
And I’ll help them through the thick and thin,
Just like you have helped me.
In your eyes you’ll see a grown girl,
With a smile, that you always have.
A smart girl, working to the best of her ability,
Just like you always do.
But, deep inside your heart, I’m still that little girl,
That ran around the house screaming, and laughing,
Who was a trouble maker,
But will always love you, with every inch of my heart.
