The darkness rains into the world every afternoon
The daylight hides when it arrives, away in its cocoon
The shadows are treaded on and hidden from our sight
Until the morning makes its entrance with the daylight.
The blackened sky, the gleaming stars will make their way on stage
And leave their mark, an evil curse that keeps us in our cages
The curse will lead us to the world where our minds are the dwellers
Where pigs can fly and trees can sing, where we’re the storytellers.
This world will spin and tell its lies while we naively listen
Until the daylight wins its war and paints the sky to glisten
And then we wake, confused and lost, while birds prolong their song
Daylight will smile despite our thoughts and watch us all day long.
