Finalist in the 'World of Words 2009' competition
I visited once, the sacred sight of love
Where Cupid was said to have laid to rest
Yet his spirit lives on like music
That which is the essence of life
There, the colours are different
Marigold hues claim the atmosphere
Almost tangible
While spectrums of kingfisher blues claim the sky
And rays of sunshine dance in puddles
Like lamé waving swiftly in the wind
Down cobble streets of yore
A necropolis; not fear-evoking, but eminent
The living wander about the graves eager to see
The resting places of the famed
I did not find Cupid, but came to realize
One must wait, not search for love
That which is the essence of life
