2009
like walking into a waking nightmare
Fighting people who just don’t care.
Shooting at us with high tech guns
Trying to put us on the run.
We shoot back as hard as we can
Never giving up; again and again
Suddenly I hear enemy jets,
Full of bombs and no regrets.
My eyes fill with tears as I realize what’s next:
My very own untimely death.
One last thought before I die
staring at the blood red sky:
The fight was worth it, through thick and thin
Protecting Australia and my kin.
I love Australia and don’t you forget it;
Forever and ever I’ll never regret it.
