The sky grew dark, as dark as night,
For there was something brewing, way out of sight.
A deadly fire that growled and cracked,
Those poor townspeople – no time to react.
The heat is something I can’t explain;
Breathing it in is causing me pain.
My paws are battered, sore and hurt,
From running fast, in the smouldering dirt.
I am found by an angel in yellow,
He gives me a drink of water, nice fellow.
My home is gone, I can’t go back,
And I pray that again, I never hear that crack,
Of a deadly fire, o’ so inhumane,
The heat and terror, of the fire’s reign.
My name is Sam, and I survived…
A deadly fire, while many died.
