Talented Chickens

We bought a lovely little farm in Mudgeeraba,
and the shops and the school are not too far.
We decided we wanted alot of really cool pets,
So we thought that chooks would be the best bet,
They jump up on you and ride on your feet,
And dig huge holes for dust baths to escape the heat,
Mum falls down them and occasionally rolls down the hill,
For the rest of the day she has to take many pills,

They instigate break-outs and we are always putting them back in
And when they discovered the worm farm it was quite a sin,
From twelve chooks we are lucky to get five eggs a day,
Even when the nest is soft and clean and covered in fresh hay,
They use the doggy door to get inside for something to eat
And think that the dog food is a really nice treat!
They roam through the house & you can see where they have been!
This is truly a sight that we have never seen!

There are Lucy, Chloe, Yasmin and Skye,
Mum cut their flight wings so now they can’t fly
When they lose feathers there is a pink and purple spray,
which we have to put on them and it takes all day,
The chooks enjoy a swing with me,
So I take them down to my big fig tree,
They all come running when I yell “Chook! Chook! Chook!”
And they surround me whilst I lay and read a book,

Some like to watch the TV and jump up onto the bed,
They squawk and cluck and it really hurts my head,
I say “No, bad Chook!”I am training them to stop,
But my Mum thinks they stink and chases them with a mop!
“Chickens aren’t dogs!” Nan says with a grin
But we could put it on “Funniest Home Video’s” and win!
So we’ll record their antics for all to see,
What talented chooks we have who sing and drink cups of tea.
