I swam toward the coral reef, kicking away from the shore.
I looked at the exquisite fish and I wondered if I would see more.
And through the turbid waters, a shadowy shape swims near.
The emerald sea turned stale as the shark sensed my fear.
The shark was splendid in size and great was it’s pearly white fin.
I knew that it was hungry and I would be its din.
His tail was thrashing wildly as it gave me a solid knock.
When its focus was distracted by some fish on a nearby rock.
The shark hadn’t changed its mind and suddenly,
CHOMP, CHOMP, CHOMP, fiercely and bloodily.
The dye of my blood stained the ocean floor,
Then there was nothing, my life was no more.
I woke up in my bedroom, what a surprise,
In my very own bedroom, I couldn’t believe my eyes.
I rubbed my eyes, removed the sleep, tried to erase the bad dream
But the eyes of the shark still hold their terror, my throat still holds the scream.
