Dark Saturday

Pitch black sky from the smoke blankets Melbourne building.
Gum trees burn and people’s possessions melt.
Panic as ravaging fires come closer and higher.
The blue sky goes black and the trees fall down.
People stop and pray for all lives lost.
Homes burnt by the fire but chimneys still standing.
Animals burnt and people perish in the fire.
Pets left behind as the inferno got closer.
Years of drought has parched the earth.
