Finalist in the 'World of Words 2009' competition
A spark of light throughout the night
Eating burning and extinguishing life
Cutting through forests like a knife,
A monster formed to do one thing,
To eat away at everything
Screams of help from helpless beings
Their lives crushed, you can hear their screams.
Stops at nothing, jumps into the air
Forming wind stronger than its only fear
And though our saviours fight the beast
If they were to stay, on them it would feast.
Going at least a week without a break
And saying it was summoned not by mistake
Not only has this person destroyed houses and homes
And animals and life and caused their moans.
This person has not just destroyed as intended
But has instead made out resistance and will to live, ever strong.
