Ocean Dreams

At night when I close my eyes and sleep,
I mostly dream of the coral reef.
In my mind I can see the picture,
Of the beautiful place it should always be.
Just think of the sea surrounding it, majestic, mighty and free,
Sometimes of this beautiful picture,
I can almost hear the sea.
It's waves lapping gently at the shore,
How sad would it be if they splashed nevermore.
All people enjoy it, their faces pictures of joy,
Bobbing in the waters like bright-coloured buoys.
Then, in the evening, as the light wanes,
And sea horse riders grip foamy white manes,
The people pack up and go home,
And on the beach I am then alone,
To enjoy in my mind's eye,
The wonderous beauty of the darkened seas and skies.
Yet all too soon the images fade away,
And as the sun dawns on a bright new day,
I wake, ready to make the best of what's headed my way.
