Under The Rainbow

“I wonder if I can spot something amazing?” I muttered to myself. It was midday and we had just finished a warm, aromatic lunch and were cozily wrapped up in soft blankets. The storm wasn’t very long but my cold feet were dragging me like I hadn’t been out in days! I was desperately itching to get some fresh, moist air flowing through my body. It was now springtime so all the vibrant flowers were starting to rise and shine.

As I stepped out I pulled on my furry jacket and slid on my smelly gloves and scarf. It was still bitterly cold though the weird news channel had said there would be sunshine all day. I walked across the quiet road, brushing my hands along my dusty jacket. There were pleasant little creatures crawling everywhere and a little, cute bunny in the distance, nibbling a carrot. I wasn’t expecting something really big to happen. It was just a normal day and a normal walk in a normal place.

Then I froze dead in my tracks. I marvelled at such a sight I had never seen in my life. This was definitely not just a regular rainbow. It was starting at my feet and went somewhere very far. At school we were taught that rainbows don’t start or end anywhere, so what was this mysterious thing in front of my eyes? I was then determined to find where this phenomenal rainbow lead to. I had realised I walked pretty far away from home so I caught a taxi and drove home.

When I reached the old, wooden door of my sleek home I grabbed the unnecessary junk in the mailbox as I usually did and went to carelessly chuck it in the green lid bin, but I stopped. Something was carefully enclosed and addressed to me with no name of who I had received it from. I threw the rest of the rubbish out and opened the yellowish envelope and pulled something that looked like a key. The golden key was engraved with minuscule letters that read out “ CHASE THE RAINBOW”. I thought it might have some sort of connection to the rainbow so I caught the taxi again, who was still counting his money.

I hopped off, handing the man his payment for his services. I casually walked over to the rainbow and slid the key through the rainbow several times. Nothing happened though.I gently laid the key onto the rainbow and waited. Suddenly a giant gust of wind pushed me onto the rainbow and we started moving upward in the direction of the rainbow! It was a joyous journey and I met a little bunny which had floppy ears. It was strange how I thought that the bunny could understand me. It was such a magical experience to hop on a rainbow.

Later, we landed on an amazing island. It felt like a dream! Then, I walked over to the dewy grass patch. I sat down heavily and took a long nap. I woke to the sounds of squeaking and saw that the puffy bunny was sitting on a giant pot of gold coins. She also held a letter in her mouth which read “ Dear girl, you have achieved the badge of imagination for only the people with the biggest imaginations. Please accept the is pot of gold as a gift. “

I returned home with gold and silver and many many riches. I was very proud of my self!
