The Pain Never Ends

It starts with a throb in your chest, a pull at your cracked heart,
After comes the tears drowning your eyes so all you can see is your pain.
Your head pulses from trying to keep the tears at bay,
Shaking arms hugging your body, one last dishevelled attempt of comfort.
Covering your mouth as if to keep the sobs in, it never works.

Unrelenting pressure, like a force sitting on your chest,
Trying to suffocate you in your own agony.
The aching spreads from torso to limbs and deep into your soul,
Engulfing the last of the bright colours hidden in your heart.
It embeds into your bones, so you can feel it as you move,

Pulsing so deeply around your head it makes you dizzy,
You’re being sucked into a deep void of pain and darkness.
Every part of you trembles from the thought of being down there again,
But it’s too late, you’re already falling, and you can’t stop.

The pain never ends.
