A little girl and boy stand on the side of the road
The sky is black, the clouds cover the moon, it’s cold
They stand there squinting trying to see through the darkness
Everything is silent, no cars, no movement, no noise
If they moved only a fraction of an inch they would touch
The girl looks into the distance with sadness in her eyes, nobody’s coming
Trees form shadows behind them


I am next to the road
I can’t see anything it’s too dark
What do we do now
She stands there still, silent, frozen in her tracks
You are afraid
Hours pass nothing changes
