Keep Faith
Pain has dawned on the world once more,
The same old story, the same old War.
Those mothers, daughters, sisters, wives,
“We give them, they give their lives.”
The ugly battles, the dark, the light,
Friendship, amongst the darkest night.
And girls, waiting, waiting, at home,
“Oh brothers, please return.” They moan.
See the suffering, see the pain,
The same old shadows live again.
Hear the war torn cities cry,
But the stars still sparkle in the sky.
For a million losses, the world goes on,
But when the loss is yours, it all feels wrong.
How can spring come and be the same?
Amidst the dark, amidst the pain?
And when at last, the battles cease,
And you now have a final peace.
To live, to laugh, to play, to work.
“We did keep faith, amongst the murk.”
