Dead End

Death had caught her in the dead of night, not waiting for that bright dawning light
Unloved and unwanted her lost life meant naught, for she was simply a memory that was now forgot
Her memory of her past was so very real, that her wounded heart would never heal
No amount of passing years, would ever stop her broken tears
The dark continued to persist, until at last her memory was as thin as mist
Her heart weeped and cried and after many a night, who can be surprised by her dying light?
With sorrow for herself there the child sat on her own, dreaming of her once sweet home
After a plea of pure grief she cried, but sadly to her dismay, no one pried
Illness and fire had all striked the child in one bounce, leaving the girl with no strength not even an ounce
But alas there was no one there to care, so she lied there with a heart that was bare
Sadly there the memories daded away, leaving the empty child at bay
Wide eyed and cold she sat there alone, waiting for someone of her own
She knew naught of who she waited for in the gloom, but the thought of seeing them made her happy under the new moon
However when she thought she saw them but did not, she fell apart, and with a final cry, she at with a swollen heart
The riper himself came soon, watching the smoke as it softly did croon
His icy fingers ran over her pale scarred skin, making the child wish she was with her kin
