I Don't Want To Go

High school..... doesn’t sound like much fun to me. I can be home schooled, you might say but there’s two reasons why not; one, because my parents would not have the time to teach me; and two, because today is my first day of high school at ‘Peter Bond’s High’ 1

I pleaded my mother not to go. “Please mum, what if I’m bullied?” Mum stopped at my tracks. “Quit making up excuses and pack your bag, or you’ll be late for the bus!” stated mum firmly. Missing the bus sounded good to me.2

Ten minutes or so later, the bus stopped at my driveway. I squinted though the tinted windows to see that it was extremely crowded inside. The school bus was painted white with a narrow red stripe streaming horizontally across the side. I nervously stepped onto the bus and spied my best friend, Emma, who was saving a seat for me. The bus doors creaked shut and we were off. “I feel like I’m going to jail!” exclaimed Emma.3

Emma was in the middle of telling me how her cousin was going to Italy when the bus suddenly halted at the high school gate. Everybody got off the bus, Emma and I were last off.
Emma and I were lead to our classroom by my older brother Henry. We quietly sat down at our desks whilst Mr Nickles, our teacher, strode
proudly to the front.4

Mr Nickles explained the way high school works and all the different subjects. We were each given a journal which included a timetable and a map of the school. This is not so bad, I thought.5

The day slowly passed and we were back on the bus. It stopped at my driveway once again, I stepped off the bus. Mum was happily waiting on our verandah for me. “How was high school?” she asked me. “Well.....” I admitted. “it wasn’t as bad as I thought . Actually, I enjoyed it!”
“Well that’s good,” mum went on. “Because you have another four years or so left!”
THE END!
