A Fire In A Forest

Fire is a forests nemesis.
The tongue of a flame licking, lapping
The skin of a tree’s trunk,
The flesh of a plants foliage.
The noise is getting louder now
As I wander through a field of charcoal.
The heat stiffens my face and weakens my stride
As I move ever closer
To the demons fiery heart.
I sense life among the flames,
As though the demon is alive
Spitting at me, lurching at me
Very nearly reaching me.
Until I give it an icy blast,
Suffocating and cleansing it,
As angels throttle the demon.
