I lie in my bed
Curled up in a ball
Closing my eyes
I pray for the help of Saint Paul
It’s like black velvet
Smothering me
Dark like a locked box
But light holds the key
They leap and crawl
Those shadows do
When the lights switch off
That’s their que
Of all the things
Scary and wild
It is night that I fear
That makes me feel like a vulnerable child
