Cameras rolling, a crowd of energized spectators wait.
Eyes, fanatical, focus above.
A blinding bulbous yolk on a calm, blue blanket.
A phenomenon anticipated.
A dark silhouette begins to creep,
Stealthily, steadily – in front the glowing ball.
Sky darkening, squeals and howls plug the air.
A phenomenon, mesmerizing.
Totality.
The dazzling disk obscured, light is severed.
Surroundings become shadowed, a fiery ring remains.
A phenomenon at its climax.
Once more, brilliant rays drench the landscape.
Warmth and familiarity. But,
The disappearance of that mystical spectacle hollows the soul.
A phenomenon concludes.
