NATURE ELAPSED:
The nature of our Earth,
A wonder supposed to be until the very end of time,
So little appreciated, so little sublimed,
We’re slowly destroying it, yet this notion we refuse to recognise,
And what a painful experience we’re creating for our God,
Making him view it all, through his own, very eyes.
The flowers that bloom from beneath the springs,
Such glory, such amusement, such pleasure they bring,
The sun, fine, golden and charming,
Incessantly made hotter through global warming,
Until one day its presence will truly disappear,
And sadly because of us, this day is drawing near,
And its beauty will never again appear.
The sky will be left cloudless,
The dreariest of greys,
And our world will be destitute of the nature we failed to praise.
The ethereal clouds, their grace, their composure,
The stories they tell in their above enclosure,
Will one day be wiped clean from this Earth,
And its position will be filled with masses of dirt.
The sky will continue to fill with puffs of gas,
We realise this, comprehend it, and yet do not react.
And so immediately, we point fingers,
Say others are to be blamed,
Yet we all know that we are contributing to this shame.
The trees, the grass, and the plants,
The green of our world, they stun and enchant,
The beauty in their pattern,
The thrill of their dance,
The aura that surrounds them,
Brilliant beyond extent,
And yet still we act cruelly against them,
Chop, log and use them with such sense of phlegm,
And before long, we realise the irreversible damage we’ve done,
Each of them destroyed,
Until there are none.
And last of all, it’s our turn to perish,
For the foul deeds we’ve done,
By taking from God the creations he once cherished.
And yet God greets us warmly,
And transports us to another world, somewhere,
And let us hope that we do not make the same mistakes there.
