Finalist in the 'Pieces of Paradise 2010/2011' competition
The police circling the scene of a terrorist attack
Like vultures around prey
What remains of the building is metal and ash
The victims lie still like models of clay
The culprits are satisfied, for them a day’s work is done
And Death is happy, he’s had his fun
At the grave my old comrades are mourning
But for me another journey is dawning
Up to heaven I go, burnt from head to toe
No more foes to fight, I feel like a bird in flight
For now my trip has ended I’m with the dead
Even ones from history books I’ve read
For me it’s the end of a life
And the start of another one without strife
All I wanted was peace
And all war to cease
