A light
The tears run down her face, as the rain falls outside her window.
Feelings of loneliness and sorrow flood into her heart, and suddenly she is no longer standing.
Pools of salty water form into flowing rivers, washing the colour from her life.
So dark.
Ice touches her toes, and slowly, painfully creeps up her body.
A feeling of numbness takes hold, and nothing seems to matter.
Heavily eyelids begin to close and soon everything is still.
So cold.
Then a hand lands on her shoulder, and her eyes flick open.
A knowing, loving smile, shatters the ice.
A sense of warmth and comfort flushes the numbness away.
A friend.
Strong arms warp around her, and she is standing once again.
Soft, smooth fingers wipe away the once flowing tears.
Tender lips press against her cheek and she is finally at peace.
A lover. A new beginning.
