Tom's birthday was to be the best.
A walk on the nature trail would put us to the test.
We had backpacks, torches and binoculars at the ready.
30 of us in a line the walk was very steady.
We scared the roos and chased the cats.
And lyssa virus had us running from bats.
We heard a noise up in the tree.
It was a owl that we could see.
We turned the corner and heard a flapping sound.
There was a bit of squealing some kids run some hit the ground.
There was a ghost coming up the track.
We turned sprinted and didn't look back.
"Margie, Lizzy, Tom, Sherridan" head count we were all there.
Except for dad who didn't say 'yeah'.
We turned the corner and who'd we see
Dad the ghost giggling behind a tree.
