A Lost Love

Days passed by,
Months followed.
Each second was agony,
As I sat and wallowed.

Tears escaped me,
Time after time.
There was no turning back,
Not even for a dime.


His eyes as rich as emeralds,
Lit up my world,
Without his daily smile,
My depression unfurled.

Love was lost,
My heart was torn,
My eyes red and puffy,
Forever closed as it hit dawn.
