A fire burns
Fuelled by the memory of long ago
Exclusion, anger, tears
Began a fire inside a young girl
A fire burns
Never again must this pain be felt
For she never wants the pain
The pain on herself, nor on others
A fire burns
Red hot fury, a lick of blue
A tinge of yellow, of gratefulness
Dedicated to the friend who followed
A fire burns
Fuelled by the memory of long ago
The memory of exclusion
Of being told never to return
The memory of sadness
The tears that flowed
The memory of gratefulness
To the friend who followed
The memories, so strong, so small
This is the fire that burns inside me
