A Humble Sandwich

A humble sandwich,
Diamond cut with a mother’s love.
Layered with affection,
Wrapped in care,
Packaged for nourishment and growth.
Lunchtime unites a host of vibrant meals.
The humble sandwich,
Now overwhelmed by superior cuisines.
Discarded. Thrown into the abyss of waste.
Replaced by the power of a vending machine.
Years pass…
Now a man in tie and suit,
Struggles to feed an empty heart and soul.
A sullen look of regret
Reflects a life and foundation
Thrown away.
