One day I woke up
My father called me to his room
I knew my step dad had cancer
But I didn’t know he would end so soon
It was bound to happen someday
But not today
The nurses said it was critical
But I wanted him to stay
He fought strong till the next day
But when nightfall came to
That was the end of his last day
