There we were by the Agean Sea
Sent to war to fight for our Country
We came across a place called Gallipoli
We charged
I hear the nervous chatter of my friendly colleagues
Lining up for the battle that would
Ruin their lives.
I saw my life flashing before my eyes in shades of red.
I smelt blood and sweat running down my face
As I lay shot in the trench.
I reached out to touch my family before the blurred vision faded.
I thought about my friends and how I will never see them again.
I felt beaten.
