Rising from the depths of the horizon,
A beacon of hope for weary nomads,
She shines across the velvety black night,
Artificial lights cower at her glow,
Envious stars squint at her brilliance,
But how lonely she is above the world,
The summit on which she rests is empty,
She releases a melancholy sigh,
That shimmers across the crest of the sea,
And gently flutters along the harbour,
And when the horizon begins to glow,
She realises it is time to depart,
To vanish until night returns again,
But as she disappears she fails to hear,
A gentle voice floating from a window,
A young girl whispering “Farewell dear friend”.
