A Fathers Mistake

As despair haunts his face, he wipes away the tears from his cheeks,
Looking down at his kids, he regrets the choices he made,
He opens his mouth but no words can escape, he made the mistake.
Stuck in a puddle of regret and defeat, sorrows surround his life,
Redemption far from reach with nowhere to go, no one to love, he leaves.
As he walks away, he leaves their lives, he leaves his life,
Breaking away from all pledges, he makes another mistake.
As time goes by he tries courageously to heal the wounds and fill the gaps,
But they never forget what he did, how he left, how he broke their hearts.
Trying to relieve the pain, he searches for love but it’s all in vain,
Searching for help everywhere he can, he wants them, but they don’t want him.
In time they learn to forgive him, but they never forget,
In time they accept the truth, but they will never forget,
They will always remember how he left the, forgot them, ruined them,
But they have to forgive him, he’s their father.
