Dark clouds, as black as the night,
Gathered over the grieving site.
Tears slid gently down their faces,
As they remembered him, whom they had lost.
All held poppies close to their chest,
To remember the man that they loved best.
He was taken from the world too soon,
His children and wife were left alone.
The wind howled and people shivered,
His dying wish had been delivered.
The smell of rain filled the air,
As the heavens opened and the rain poured.
The Pastor said the final prayer,
Life seemed to be so unfair.
For they lost a father, a friend, a husband,
Taken all too soon.
