She stands
Watching, silently
From beneath her hood of hair
You could see a smile there
Like a silver knife in the dark of midnight
She’s waiting for a happily ever after
Or Prince Charming to come and dance with her
But lost in dreams of summer days she’s forgotten
Forgotten the horrible truth
There’s no such thing as happily ever after or Prince Charming
There is happily but no ever after
Happily is not for ever
There are Princes but none called Charming
She’s waiting for things that don’t exist
But she doesn’t know that.
She will forever stand there, waiting
Poor, poor
Waiting girl.
