Finalist in the 'Horizon of Dreams 2018' competition
It was the end of the season and the state champs were here
It was down to the finals and there was no room for fear.
The waves were pumping and the winds were amped
I was riding for the title of the new Cronulla surf champ.
The competition was tough and the stakes were high
Club glory was the ultimate and I hoped it would be mine.
I rode the best the conditions allowed and it was tough out there, you see,
I could smell the smell of sweet success but would it be for me?
My last ride of the day was my best so far but was it enough to win?
Could I ride the wave to victory and claim the trophy - a golden fin?
The crowd was cheering as I walked to shore, they were proud of their local boy.
It was then I realised whether win, lose or draw - the day was just one big joy.
