Finalist in the 'Write Along 2018' competition
Three friends took a metal detector to a park;
They hoped to find treasure, money or gold,
But instead found a time machine of some kind!
Attached was a note, which was covered in mould:
‘Change one event from the past,
Right a wrong, solve a crime or a mystery’
So back they went to 1907 to alter the records,
Letting Hitler into art school, changing history.
Hitler became a world-famous artist,
Too devoted to art to care about war
At the time when WWII would have struck,
Hitler was on tour, painting pictures galore.
Without WWII, the Jews survived
And millions of lives were spared.
The children didn’t realise how much had changed;
Migration, careers, and the experiences shared.
