A BATTLE LOST

The result of this battle won’t affect me, be it victory or loss
For I acknowledge, with content, I could not be much happier
My enemy is one who inspires
Leads
Supports
His troops into battle, with the clearest of bravery
And thus, this ongoing war has seemed to cease
With my blood dripping slowly from the edge of his blade
It is true that I have fallen
But I have fallen with grace
I have fallen on my knees and bowed down to one who rivals me
I have taken up my quarrel with the foe
Never surrendering nor bending to his will
For I have put up a great fight,
Yet,
It is still a battle lost.
