She made every second of the day worth living
And brought my will back from the graveside
This hopeless love is the only butterfly in the garden
Our linked hands the flowers, and our smiles the sunlight
Though the ticking clock
Dared not stop in the face of soldiering on time
Our moments together made each that slipped away
All the more comforting, as it watched on, behind the glass of cherished memory
I wished to build a home on her stable foundations
But I came to find that both of us harboured rocky shores
The jagged shards didn’t matter, for what replaced it
Was healing, and sheltered us from the raging coastline storms
Although our love bloomed solitary in the raging battlefield
Death dared not touch the delicate petals
For although our roots may come from delicate pasts
The stalk of us came into a Garden of Eden that sheltered us from the storm
