Excellence Award in the 'National Treasures 2022' competition
It started in year one when I thought I was just dumb
For inside me you see, there is something wrong with me
Low pitch sounds are where my troubles lie,
Though I still hold my head up high
To fix this problem in my ears
I have a device that causes teasing by my peers
But even though I am different in more ways than one
I am still a someone
My hearing aids are like magic
Without them my life was confusing and problematic
Now I am used to these awesome machines in my ear,
They make my hearing so much more clear
I may be different but not at heart
I am not dumb, but I am smart
I am Marnie and I am proud to be me
Loving myself has set me free
