Gazing out the window

Sitting in my seat while gliding through the air,
Gazing out the window wondering if I dare.
Dare to open up my mind to all that lies ahead,
Or shut my eyes and stop the tears that I want to shed.
Down below the airplane waits my future home,
Far away in a place that is still unknown.
In the distance lies a life waiting for me to live,
And yet I still can not forget what I've had to give.
I know deep inside this is a great new chance,
But I can't resist to take a backwards glance.
My old life is still with me, it's clear within my mind,
And I really do not want to leave it all behind.
Suddenly the seatbelt signs light up the plane,
We drop below the clouds that are filled with rain.
My thoughts are interrupted as the plane starts to land,
I don't know what will happen but it's all in my hands.
