A fiery sunset

A Fiery Sunset

The Sun, a conflagration of pink and yellow,
Contrasts boldly against bleached white snow.
As it sets in the west towards the night, I am mesmerised. It is a heavenly sight.

Like molten lava, it burns very grand,
Burning, burning, penetrating the sand.
Setting fire alight to anything in sight, causing animals to run in fright.

Its gleam flickers on the twinkling jewel sea.
It burns through the water, evaporating the mist.
Whilst I sit and gaze upon the calm, tropical sea, its glow radiates, hanging upon me.

The Sunset is a sign of a day’s rest.
Now it is off, back to its nest.
The star has been working through and through the day,
Brightly shining its bursting rays.
