Nature And Me

The trees all around me,
So old and wise,
Their branches lingering above my head,
The soft rustling of the leaves as they fall to the ground,
My gentle footsteps as I stroll beneath them,
The loud crunch as I step on the last autumn leaves,
The gentle whoosh of the winter breeze,
The people in their cars not even noticing the beauty around them,
The soft sun light drying the moist ground,
The ill-fated trees which were cut down to make room for the ghastly modern buildings,
The street bare as people sit inside watching television,
The quiver of my hands as I bend down to pick up a small and fragile leaf,
My eyes mesmerised at the beauty of its delicacy,
Which amongst the foliage people will never notice but will likely step on and crush,
But there will be beauty again,
And once again people will drive their cars that pain our tender planet,
And once again people will stare at their televisions blankly,
And when I die I will not remember the world for its technology or fashion,
But for the beauty that it let me see.
