A Father's Wish

Dearly, deary little lass,
Pray bring a pint of ale,
For my taste a quick diminishing,
And my mouth is becoming dry.
Dearly, deary little lass,
Sing for me one last time,
For my hearing a quick diminishing,
And my chest is growing tight.
Dearly, deary little lass,
Look at me one last time,
For my eyes are slowly losing sight,
Pray look at me one last time.
Dearly, deary little lass,
My breath is running short,
I’ll see you in the land above,
My dearly, deary love.
