A Letter To Kate

Dear Kate,
I enjoyed our conversation the other day,
But now I grit my teeth as I say
Though rather obsessed with horses you are
In that pleasant chat you did go too far
I’ll now describe how I thought
About the horses with which you’re fraught
Chestnut horses with flaxen manes,
Whirl around in my brain.
Oh tell me please;
When will it stop?
Chocolate palominos join me instead
Taunting me terribly inside my head
Pintaloosas come as well
Joining with them in the swell
Cremellos with their creamy coat
Prance around on the sinking boat
I’m afraid to say what was more boring
The speed of your speech that had me snoring
You could be called a motor mouth
But seriously I have no doubts
What you are is so much worse-
You talk as if you have rehearsed
The horses, the speed…
I have decreed
I will talk to you no more
‘Till you’re no longer a bore.
Yours Sincerely,
Stephanie.
