The ringmaster’s puppet
Is biding its time
Waiting to move
If only to mime
It opens its mouth
But words can’t be formed
At the ringmaster’s mercy
It’s just you, reborn
The words coming out
Are a different kind
Not you, never you
And never you mind
The ringmaster here
Will keep you still
Waiting to use you
From the windowsill.
