Sunset Breeze

As I strolled towards the water,
the breeze was soft and salty,
the dunes hot on my feet,
cooling the closer I got to the sea.

Waves were frightening monsters,
reaching out their strong arms to grab me,
boisterous yet refreshing,
crashing to the sand near my feet.

The water was ice,
yelling in pain as I slammed into the surface,
rocks under my feet were smooth,
from countless years of waves pummeling over them.

Red and relaxing, the sunset drained into the distance,
miniature crabs scuttled along,
making footprints in the texture of the sand,
fleeing the trees, towering giants shadowing the cove.
