A Dog's Life.
I stopped.
Oh my!
What was that noise?
The house was filled with little boys!
I ran and jumped all over them,
And licked and smelled and got my toys!
Then in came mum,
With big round tum,
As tired as could be.
I loved mum so off I went,
And leapt up on her knee,
'Maybe she'll take me for a walk,
Out under the trees!'
But this was not to be the case,
I found just as I licked her face,
"Not now Freddie!
Max, Teddy! Leave your brother alone!"
I sadly moped and silently hoped,
Until I heard a moan.
"Can I keep her, mum?
She's loads of fun!
She won't be any trouble!
I'll keep her safe and dry and warm,
I'm gonna call her Rubble!"
"Go and wash that dirty dog,
get it off the table!
What kind of name is Rubble?
No, we'll call her Mable!"
Another dog?
How could this be?!
They didn't even talk to me!
But then I saw her,
She was so small,
Mable was hardly there at all!
A tiny pup, a little thing,
So I took her under my wing.
We are best friends, Mable and I,
But I am old...
and soon will die.
