A Favour Of God

Rain falls heavily, like glass from the sky,
Sweet water masks my tears but fear remains,
I close my eyes, and again I try,
Save me God, and break these chains.
Within every tear a memory hides,
I see their faces when I close my eyes,
Every now and then I let myself smile,
I will come back, and I’ll hold you awhile.
A lie! I say. Everybody’s a fool!
How dare I tell them such, how dare I speak,
When a shell bares my name at every step,
So sure of death, I cry silent goodbyes.
Take me now! As the bullets fly,
I’m ready! I shout. I’m ready to die!
So why do you wait? I’m standing right here!
I’ll die if you ask it, so ask of it now!
At last it came, whizzing like dark rain,
And it took my life as it ripped through my heart,
I prayed to you once, asked you to save me,
And now I lay in the fire, abandoned and alone.
